DOCUMENTARY SHOWCASE
Ritmo y Memoria
Miguel Buenrostro in conversation with Edna Martínez
Our 6th edition opens presenting a documentary showcase, directed by Mexican visual artist and filmmaker Miguel Buenrostro in conversation with Edna Martínez, artist, DJ, and music curator at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, known for her work bridging Africa, her natal Caribbean, and the Arabic world. The showcase features four short films on the diasporic horizon of sound and musical traditions. In these films Buenrostro collaborates with migrant musicians, revealing a global dimension to instrument-making and offering a counter-narrative to the colonial histories that shaped the evolution of musical instruments in Latin America.
The short films that will be screened are the following, in the subsequent order: Acústica en Ayuujk (Mexico, 2024), Cumbia! A la orilla del bosque (Sweden, 2023), Por Soleá, (Spain, 2024), and the film premiere of Strings (Democratic Republic of Congo, 2023).

The theme Assemblages, Environments, and Happenings, takes on a new context beyond its western connotations when reflecting on the assertion of life found in -the process- of sonic street technologies and their diverse scenes in Latin America and its diaspora.

RSLA Takeover
Bclip (14:00-16:00) / Parzubanil (16:00-17:00) / RSLA (17:00-18:00)
RSLA’s upcoming radio takeover offers a glimpse into multifaceted Latin American music scenes—too vast and dynamic to be confined to a single narrative. First up is Colombian producer Bclip (Paria Records), whose work channels the raw energy of picotera culture rooted in Soledad Atlántico’s barrios. Through his signature style, “LA GRA$A,” Bclip tears through conventional boundaries with unapologetic fervor.
Following Bclip is Lima-based DJ, producer, and Sacrilejio Records founder Parzubanil, who navigates the intersections of Afro-Latinx traditions and contemporary club music. His sound balances propulsive, dancefloor-ready rhythms with experimental textures, anchored in dembow grooves and 4/4 intensity.
Closing the show, RSLA co-curators Carla Boregas and Talia Vega León will weave sonic narratives rooted in their deep ties to São Paulo and Lima’s underground music communities. Their set promises a resonant dialogue between memory and sound, showcasing the evolving landscapes of these Latin American scenes.
